It would appear that winter is well and truly underway now, judging by the extreme weather conditions recently experienced in the UK. The cold, wet, windy weather doesn’t seem to do much for our mood generally, but imagine if you had to make an Insurance claim because of it.
It always makes sense at this time of year especially to ensure that you are adequately covered for all eventualities, and if the Met Office is to be believed, the UK is in for another difficult winter. If you are a Homeowner, you should check the cover you have on your policy to ensure that should the weather take a turn for the worst, and you do have to make a claim, you have the correct cover in place. If you are a landlord, or property owner, the same applies. In particular if you have an unoccupied property, Primecover recommends that you follow these easy pointers to help reduce any problems-
- Ensure central heating is left on even at a minimal temperature and on time to come on early morning and evening.
- Drain systems if away for a long period or if property is unoccupied.
- Ask a friend, neighbour or member of the family to visit at the premises at regular intervals and get them to carry out an internal inspection so as to minimise any damage if a burst or flood has occurred.
If you are unsure whether you have the correct cover, or just need some advice, contact us here at Primecover on 01204 841880. We are always happy to help.
